ARISTOCRACY - EXPANDED
Cities Rule
The aristocracy is a form of government where a small, privileged class holds the power in an area of the Public & or Private Sector or a combination. The word "aristocracy" comes from ancient Greece, where it was used to describe a system of rule by the best people. The ancient Greeks, including Aristotle and Plato, believed that the best people were those who were morally and intellectually superior, and deserved to rule because of it
In history, the aristocracy has often been associated with a hereditary ruling class. Members of the ruling group would pass power on to their heirs, usually their eldest son. Aristocratic status could also come from belonging to a military class, as in ancient Greece, ancient Rome, or India
In the United States, there is no formal aristocracy, but some families have achieved an almost aristocratic status through generations of wealth
Here are some other characteristics of the aristocracy:
Aristocrats often have titles such as duke, duchess, baron, and baroness
Aristocracy can be combined with other types of government
Many noble landholdings are among the most prestigious and valuable in the world
